Failing septic system in Brampton, Ontario
The customer had a saturated septic system bed in Brampton, Ontario which was noted in August of 2015 and was in need of a solution. ClearPod was installed in December of the same year to assist in the treatment process and reduce solids leading to bed.
ClearPod technology is a robust, drop-in, fixed film aeration unit that takes about 1 hour to install. It decreases the organic loading to the leachfield by 85% but still allows solids to settle due to gentle aeration supplied to the fixed film. By converting the septic tank into a treatment system we remove the quantity of wastewater organic material clogging the leachfield.
ESSE Canada (https://www.essecanada.com/), our Ontario partners were contacted to retrofit the septic system and extend the restore performance. Based on the saturatio of the bed it was proposed a significant reduction in TSS to the system was required. The ClearPod unit was purchased directly in Ontario from LMENT Water (https://lmentwater.com/products/the-clearpod-system).
Based on the installation of the ClearPod unit the septic system has since returned to successful operation. The ClearPod unit was hard-pipe connected through the riser of the septic system.
Total Suspended Solids (TSS) measurments of water quality analysis from the system was carried out in 2016 and 2018 – the average TSS leaving the septic system is 19 mg/L. This equates to a 85 – 90% reduction of TSS in the wastewater stream before leaving the septic system.
